We are excited to welcome our Wilvaken Explorers to an intimate and engaging program for first-time campers. A one week session for children ages 6 to 8 can accommodate 8 boys and 8 girls. Children live in a cabin with others of the same age, and participate in traditional camp activities under the guidance of experienced Wilvaken counsellors. Campers live in the same cabin as their counsellor, so they develop meaningful relationships with an adult mentor at camp. We maintain a 1:4 staff-to-camper ratio during the Wilvaken Explorer program.

The nature of Wilvaken Explorer allows campers to develop as individuals, provided with the support necessary to help them thrive in the camp environment. We recognize that each child adjusts to their first camp experience in different ways. Our objective is to ensure that campers have a positive camp experience, preparing them for a lifelong love of nature, outdoor activity, and community. Campers take part in cabin-based as well as free-choice activities, which serve as an introduction to many camp program areas (canoeing, arts & crafts, archery, tennis, outdoor adventure, etc). An overnight camping adventure on our island may be included if weather permits!
